Echolalia is a speech disorder that is characterized by the repetition of words or phrases that have been previously spoken by someone else. This condition is most commonly associated with neurodevelopmental disorders such as Autism Spectrum Disorder and Schizophrenia. It can also be present in individuals with catatonia, a state of unresponsiveness and immobility often associated with mental illness. While depression and cognitive dissonance may affect an individual's speech patterns in a different way, they are not typically associated with echolalia. Information processing block is not a recognized condition and therefore is not associated with echolalia.
